MICROMORPHISM

Micromorphism This body of work comes from the idea of enlarging a small object or or bring a distant object closer. The inspiration for these pieces are corals in the ocean, outer space, and textiles.

To create these pieces, I am using the glass vessel as a canvas to display these micro or distant objects.

Taking one aspect from this viewpoint and using it to create repetitive pattern. An example would be looking at one single coral in the ocean and repeating its colors and shape over and over again to make a large glass tile. This tile will later be rolled up hot around a glass bubble or collar to make large vessel. I use this blown glass process to create a 3 dimensional canvas for my murrine and pattern to be displayed. This is also relates to how coral would grow on the surface of live rock in the ocean. Taking whatever form it has as a foundation to grow.
